Khorat Fossil Museum
พิพิธภัณฑ์ไม้กลายเป็นหิน ช้างดึกดำบรรพ์ และไดโนเสาร์
One of Thailand's most important centres for geology and palaeontology, on the campus of Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University. Its work is to conserve, study and explain fossils — above all the petrified wood found here, unusually large and unusually complete, and millions of years old. That wood is hard evidence of how the environment of this region changed over deep time. The permanent exhibition runs from plant and animal fossils through to the skeletons of ancient elephants and dinosaurs that once lived in what is now Thailand, shown through 3D models, sound and interactive displays rather than glass cases alone. There is hands-on work too: mock fossil digs, microscope sessions and science workshops built for every age but aimed particularly at younger visitors — the point being to leave them caring about science, the environment, and why any of this is worth conserving.
